Meet Sam – the man that started Kayali & Co., P.A. as a sole practitioner in 1998. Since then, he has grown his firm to 15 employees and a vast portfolio of clients. Sam has expertise in various fields of accounting including - government, not-for-profit and a variety of private accounting industries. Sam began his career as an auditor for an overseas firm that was an agent of a “Big 4 Firm”. From his beginning as an auditor, he moved on to become Finance and Accounting Director for the State of Florida, Department of Health for seven years.

In 1985, he graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and has been a licensed CPA since 1993. Sam is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) and the National Society of Tax Practitioners (NSTP). Sam is also a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

However, Sam is more than just a CPA – he is very active in the community through volunteering his expertise to help local schools and other not-for-profit organizations. At Kayali & Co., we understand that accounting is more than just crunching numbers, it’s about accountability. Sam takes delight in making sure that his clients understand their business and how their workflow affects the bottom line.

Outside of the office, Sam enjoys time with his family. Sam is the proud father of two sons, one of which is a USF graduate, and the other a current USF student. Sam is an international traveler and he is passionate about experiencing new cultures.

Aura began her accounting career in the private industry in 1976. She quickly moved into the public accounting field where she achieved the position of Tax and Accounting Manager. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business with emphasis in Accounting. Aura became an Enrolled Agent with the IRS in 2006, which is considered elite status among tax professionals. She is a member of Florida Society of Enrolled Agents (FSEA) and National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA). She also has previous experience as a Tax Supervisor at a “Big 4” accounting firm.

Aura joined our firm in 2008 and has been instrumental in the firm’s growth. With over three decades of experience, Aura ensures that we offer the best quality of services to our clients. Aura is passionate about small business and is extremely helpful during the business incorporation and entity selection processes. Aura will help to make sure that you are taking advantage of the lowest tax rate possible for your specific situation. Aura also enjoys helping individuals who have fallen behind on their filing requirements come back into compliance. In the case of an audit, she will ensure that you are represented professionally and get the maximum relief available for your tax situation. Aura understands that each client has specific needs and will take the time to ensure that your circumstances are represented fairly.

Outside of work, Aura loves biking and taking vacations in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Sheryl earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business in 2013. She has a strong background in business management and was once a District Manager for a large vendor of the Walmart Corporation. Sheryl has also managed small businesses in various industries and has experience with a locally based Fortune 500 franchise company. Her background in management has helped our firm become more efficient, raise local brand awareness and examine our own internal strategies. Sheryl can help you create a custom Business Plan to focus your efforts to grow your business, strengthen your brand or simply streamline your internal processes.

In her spare time Sheryl is an avid photographer. She is passionate about volunteering with local groups such as the Chamber of Commerce and The Boys and Girls Club.
